Fashionista Of The Week: Kaila McKinnon "Casually Chic"

Fashion is not all about being Ja Ja Gabor, it is about making a style into your own and how it fits you. Kaila Mckinnon knows all about that. She has never been the type to wear the five inch heels but Jordans, Ralph Lauren, and Nikes are more on her level. Although she is more casually chic, she has been able to make it into her own style by being unique and her own trendsetter. Check out the casual chic diva's style!!!

Q:What/Who inspires your style?

A:  I really admire Teyana Taylor's style because we have similar taste. Although she steps in heels more than I do, we still have the same type of swag when it comes to sneakers.

Q:Where is your favorite place to shop?

A: Footlocker for Jordans, Finishline for Nike's, and a website that I rather not share.

Q:Who is your favorite designer?

A:Ralph Lauren. I consider my style casual chic. His line offers simplicity without compromising class or quality.

Q: What is your Favorite era?

A: My liberty that I have in my creativity stems from a collaborations from all eras.

Q: How does your style today compare to your style when you were in high school?

A: My style still reflects my personality from the past however, my maturity helps revealed my "inner" fashionista.

Q:How would you describe your style?

A: Casual Chic! My simplicity is a guaranteed head turner!

Q:How influenced are you by trends? DO you follow them?

A:Quite the opposite!!!

Q:According to you, what are the must have garments a woman MUST have in her closet?

A: A Blazer, at least One pair of heels, Jordans, more Jordans, and forces

Q:What advice would you give a fashionista in training?

A:Wear things that you are comfortable in, you don't have to always follow the trends be your own trendsetter. That is how you get the title fashionista.

Q:Name one thing you don't mind emptying your wallet for.

A: Shoes, Of Course!!!!!

Fashionista Of The Week: Sarath Say

Sarath is someone I have always admired when it came to fashion. Her look is very chic, young, stylist, and trendsetting. No matter what occasion it was, Sarath can and will pull off the perfect look. Even from the work place to happy hour she seems to always stand out! I was able to chat with the fashionista to learn more about her style.

 Q: What/who inspires your style?

A: When it comes to fashion, there is no specific famous person whom I pull ideas from. Ironically, I get a lot of my fashion senses from a man whom I dated for a few years. He helped piece items together for me at first and before you knew it, I took my training wheels off and here I am! lol

Q: Where are your favorite places to shop?

A:I do a lot of my shopping online, i.e Asos topshop etc. typically international website, it just looks different. Reason being also is because I am a bargain shopping (believe it or not LOL) you are able to search discount codes to apply to your purchase! Also, I LOVE MY LOCAL BOUTIQUE! SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY PEOPLE! 

Q: Who are your favorite designers?

A: Although I am a label whore, I love supporting aspiring fashion designer, it's just fresh. 

Q: What is your favorite era?

A: My favorite Era has got to be now because you got everything now. You're able to throw in the 60's fresh in with an 80's bottom with the new millennium shoes. The evolution is amazing.

Q: How does your style today compare to your style when you were in high school?

A: hah, oh gosh. High school, it was a Dora backpack with Jordan's and a matching t-shirt. Please don't pull out the year book.

Q: How would you describe/categorize your style?

A: COMFY! When do I ever not look comfy? Marilyn Monroe taught me ''Your clothes should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to show you're a lady''.

Q: How influenced are you by trends? Do you follow them? How do you work them into your unique style?

A:  Nah, trends are for followers. If I shall lead, the leaders shall follow. 

Q:What celebrities have a style that you admire?

A: Sophia Amoruso, she's dope! 

Q: According to you, what are the must have garments a woman MUST have in her closet?

A: Cardigan! Regardless of price or brand. You can dress up or down a cardigan. Best garment ever created! GOD BLESS CARDIGAN!

Q:What advice would you give a fashionista in training?

A: Figure out who you are first, you must be able to convince yourself before you can convince other. If you're not a sexy individual, don't throw on something sexy cause then, you'll just look uncomfortable and that will be a good outfit wasted.

Q:What is the one item you have no problem emptying your wallet for?

A: Without a doubt, shoes! I have shoes ranging anywhere from $7.50 to $1,500.00. If I want it, I will buy it. No questions ask!.

Met Gala 2013: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Report Card

Last night in New York City Fashion's biggest night happen, the MET GALA. The theme this year was Punk Couture in honor of the Museums new "Punk: From Chaos to Couture". Everybody who was somebody was invited and showed their punk rock couture style. Here are my thoughts on last night's fashion looks.

Nicole Richie is wearing TopShop. On a normal awards show this would be under the "worst dress" list but since it was the Met Gala Nicole Richie definitely went all out with the Punk Couture theme. Great Choice.

Beyonce is wearing Givenchy and she was also an honorary chairman who sat on the board this year. This look was absolutely stunning, ONLY for tonight though. She could not wear this to any other award show without being on a worst dress list but since it was the Met Gala it was the perfect look for her.

Katie Holmes is wear Calvin Klein. No caption needed. This by far was the best look of the night.

Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing Giles Deacon Gown and Phillip Treacy  head piece. This was  definitely not one of my favorite looks. The boots did not compliment the gown, The opening of the dress where it is able to show under garments seem a bit trashy which takes the couture out of her vision of Punk Couture. The head piece is the only interesting piece. The headpiece should have been the inspirations to a fabulous gown.

Kim Kardashion was a complete flock. Kim wore a Riccardo Tisci gown with the matching sandals (literally). I dislike this look very much. I feel as if this choice of look was not complementing to her or her growing belly. Kim Kardashian is a beautiful curvacious woman but for her first time at the Met Gala this was not the best choice.

Madonna is wearing a Givenchy blazer and Casadei ankle strap pumps. As much as I love Madonna and adore her Diva ways, I definitely feel as if she tries too hard when it comes to the fashion department. Punk Rock yes, Couture no!!!

Cameron Diaz is wearing Stella McCarthy gown with a complimenting leather spiked belt. Diaz look was not to die for but it was not horrible. I feel as if her make up should have been more dramatic, it was too plain and neutral.

Jesica Biel Is wearing Giambattista Valli Gown. This look is very unique and different. I absolutely love it. The fish net stocking inspired leggings really set this look off as well as the train.

Miley Cyrus is wearing Marc Jacobs. Nothing really stands out about this look. I feel as if this is Miley Cyrus style on a normal day.

Anne Hathaway is wearing Valentino. I absolutely love this look. From her hair to her gown. With her wearing her newly blonde hair sleek back, it definitely complimenting to that form fitting gown.

Taylor Swift is wearing J.Mendel. This is actually one of my favorite looks of the night. Taylor looks her actual age and not a teenage. It screams punk, couture, sexy, sass, and classic.

Alliison Williams is wearing Altuzarra. This is very sexy and daring. The flow of it gives it a twist of elegance.

Jennifer :Lopez is wearing a Michael Kors gown. Lopez definitely did an amazing job pulling off the punk couture look effortlessly. From her hair to her make up, to this gorgeous gown.

Kristen Stewart is wearing a Stella McCarthey short sleeve jumpsuit. This is a very flattering piece on her but I am over the twilight look. When I look at her, Twilight is what I think about.
